Marvin D. Wolford

Marvin D. Wolford, 98, of Rawson, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at Provision Living in Findlay. He was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Mt. Blanchard, to the late Samuel T. and Anna B. (Price) Wolford. He married his wife, Jeanne (Wittenmyer) Wolford on March 9, 1947, and she preceded him in death Aug. 19, 2011.

He is survived by his three daughters, Barbara J. (David) Zellers of Findlay, Janet K. (David) Miller of Mansfield and Linda J. (David) Ricker of Defiance; grandchildren, Jennifer (Nate) Jordan, Nathaniel (Kelly Clark) Miller, Benjamin Miller and Jamie (Eric) Cook; great-grandchildren, Grant Jordan, Matthew Jordan, Oliver Cook and Sabrina Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Ellen Musgrave, Lola Haas, Albert R. Wolford and Ethel M. Wolford.

Marvin was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater on the USS ARCTURUS attack cargo ship. He was involved in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, Southern France, and Okinawa and took occupation troops to Korea and Tientsin, China. He was a longtime member of Rawson New Hope Church and worked at Tractomotive Corporation, Findlay, and Blanchard Valley Farmers, where he retired as a fuel distributor. He was a former member of Rawson Volunteer Fire Department, Lions Club, and Rawson Board of Public Affairs. In their later years, Marvin and Jeanne spent their winters in Sun City Center, Florida.

Marvin's family would like to take this opportunity to thank the care teams at Provision Living and Ohio Living Hospice for their excellent care.

Visitation for Marvin will be from 11 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840, with his nephew, Pastor Don Clinger, officiating. Burial will follow at Benton Ridge Cemetery, Benton Ridge.

Contributions in his memory may be shared with Rawson New Hope Church, 212 N. Main Street, Rawson, Ohio, 45881, or Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice, 1730 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614.
