Martha Cannella Obituary
Martha Jane Cannella, 65, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital.
She was indeed a delightful woman and we will miss her dearly. In the words of Martha "A stranger is a friend to be made."
Janie was born July 23, 1957. Janie struggled through health problems all her life, but her spirit was never dampened and she kept a positive attitude, making the best of every situation.
She was a graduate of Vanlue High School and was registered with the state of Louisiana as a Home Health Services Provider.
Each summer, she truly enjoyed her volunteer work at the "Barn" in Louisiana, organizing every detail of the local Cattle Festival.
Janie was a Patient Advocate at Abbeville Dialysis Center where she received treatment for many years.
Janie was truly the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. Upon encountering friend and stranger alike, she always ended the conversation intreating them to do her a favor and "Have a good day." Janie's nieces and nephews were many and she considered each of them her baby.
Martha is survived by her husband, Charles Cannella; stepson, Kyle Cannella of Abbeville; brother, Sherman Callaway Jr. of Thibodaux; three sisters, Lynn Madison (Alfred) of Ohio, Georgia Fehnel (Ricky) of Abbeville, and Jodi Gaubert (Greg) of Thibodaux; three stepgrandchildren, Gabrial Cannella, Jacob Cannella, and Bryan Cannella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Betty Callaway; brother, Perry Callaway; and sister, Carolyn Sue Clostio.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, and 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Vincent Funeral Home- Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St. Janie's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
