Mark Young Obituary

Mark R. Young

Mark Robert Young, 65, of Findlay, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at his cabin in Manistique, Michigan.

He was born Dec. 7, 1957, in Flint, Michgian, to Robert Eugene and Alice Elsie (Dice) Young. Mark attended Preston High School and graduated in 1976 where he first met Tammie Elkins. They mainly knew one another in passing. In 2002, they re-connected and began their newfound relationship with her three children who he took in as his own and loved for 21 years up to his recent passing.

Mark retired from Linde, formerly known as BOC Gases, where his father, Robert Young, and his brothers, Mitch and Mike Young, also worked. Mark was an avid fan of football and loved Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions. In his earlier adulthood, he traveled different countries including Egypt, Turkey, and Italy. He loved his cozy little cabin in Manistique where he spent his time during the season and made it a place for the Young family to visit. He loved fishing and being outdoors. Often, he found enjoyment with sharing trail camera photos with friends and family capturing the animals around the cabin, including the bear he nick-named "Steve." Mark also had three pets - a cat, Louise, and two rambunctious dogs, Porsche and Tesla.

Mark is survived by his life-long partner and best friend, Tammie Elkins of Findlay; son, Brandon Elkins Sr. (Rachael Rotarius) of Onaway, MI; daughters, Brittany Brand (Daniel Leavitt) of Shelbyville, KY, and Brookelynn (Evan) Shank of Orlando, FL; brothers, Mitchell (Carol) Young of Youngstown and Michael (Patti) Young of Preston, IA; sister, Marylou Arquette of Jackson, MI; sister-in-law, Angela Young of Manistique, MI; beloved grandchildren, Leah, Jayda'Marie, Aaliyah, and Brandon Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Young of Leipsic; brother, Kevin Young and nephew, George Young of Manistique, MI; brother, Carl Young of Lake City, Minnesota; and grandparents on both sides.
