Marilyn Rose Ruen Kirtland

Marilyn Rose Ruen Kirtland, 90, of Lima, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 3:24 p.m. at her residence.

She was born July 29, 1933, in Astoria, New York, to William and Isabella (Belmonte) Schott, who preceded her in death. In 1952, she married Charles Ruen, who preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1970. Then on June 14, 1982, she married Larry R. Kirtland who survives.

Also surviving are her two sons, Michael (Stephanie) Ruen of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Douglas (Sally) Ruen of Wapakoneta; two stepchildren; six grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by all her siblings, James Schott, Gloria Radabaugh, Robert Schott and William Schott.

She had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Triplett Corp. and she retired from Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No.370 Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing. She and Larry were members of the Starlight Club. She enjoyed walking and was proud of her family's accomplishments in serving as service members in all branches of the military. She loved her family and was a devout Catholic, being a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. Her greatest memory was growing up at 333 Third Avenue, New York.

Her visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 24th, 2024, at Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services. Her funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024, at St. Charles Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. There will also be an hour of visitation at church Saturday morning prior to Mass. Burial will be at Gethsemani Cemetery following the service.
