Margaret Myers Obituary

Margaret Ann Myers

Margaret Ann Myers, a long-time Findlay resident, died Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her daughter's home near Columbus.

Margy (with a hard "g" please!) was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Alton, Illinois. Her family moved to Findlay when she was eight, and she was a lifelong resident until 2022, when she moved to Westerville to be near her family. While she missed her friends, she delighted in joining her family for dinners, t-ball games and other outings. She made many friends in her new community at Feridean Commons, where she played cards and joined the weekly "lunch bunch" to explore restaurants.

Margy is reunited with her husband, Bud, who died in 2002. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Don and Lydia Smith; her stepmother, Florence Louise Smith; and four brothers, Les, Don, Jack and George and their wives.

She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and John McCoy of Galena. More than anything, she loved being Mimi to grandkids, Katie (Dustin) Reuter of Westerville and Evan McCoy of Manhattan, and great-grandchildren, Bennett and Callan. Her baby brother, David (Pat) Smith, whom she adored, lives in Florida. They were reunited just before she died, and her joy at seeing him was incomparable. Bud's sisters, Sandie Myers and Janet Holland, survive in Normal, Illinois.

Family is what Margy valued most, and she showered them with love and generosity. She was fiercely proud and relished every moment with them. Margy was a loyal and faithful friend. Her bestie, Joanne Brandal, with whom she shared a birthday, died late last year. She treasured her long-time school friends, Dee and Toots, as well as her "hood" friends on Sweetwater Road.

Margy was the epitome of the working mom, serving as Laura's role model while managing payroll for CWC Companies (Great Scot Food Stores) for 21 years and Act 1 Staffing for 17 years. Margy loved history, animals, eating out, travel, cards, theater, movies and reading. Her big heart led her to provide a home to feral cats for many years. After she retired, she volunteered at Hancock Historical Museum, United Way, Humane Society of Hancock County and Hancock County Agency on Aging.

A celebration of Margy's life will be in Findlay in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may honor her with donations to American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Hancock County.
