Lynn L. Farthing

Lynn L. Farthing, 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and formerly of McComb, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his home in Fort Wayne.

Lynn was born Aug. 1, 1933, in McComb, the son of Earl Farthing and Florence (Troutner) Farthing.

Lynn retired from Magnavox in Fort Wayne as an engineering technician. He was a McComb High School graduate where he was active as Class President, Student Council, National Honor Society, marching band manager, and flag bearer.

Lynn served in U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957 with honor. He was proud of his military service in the 94th Fighter Interceptor Squadron.

Lynn was an avid golfer, self-taught on the McComb local golf course. He won the Magnavox Brookwood golf league multiple times. He was a former member of USGA. Lynn was always an Ohio State fan and carried a buckeye in his pocket. He enjoyed his vegetable garden and was famous for his homemade fudge at family gatherings.

Lynn is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Gregory) Brown of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Wilma Bovee of McComb; sister-in-law, Joanne Farthing of Columbus; and nieces and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Dishong; brother, Eugene Farthing; and brothers-in-law, John Dishong and Gene Bovee.

The family would like to give special thanks to Comfort Keepers and Parkview Home Health staff of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Lynn's funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Travis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arcadia, with military honors.
