Luke Davis Obituary

Luke Raymond Davis

God called Luke Raymond Davis, 52, of Jenera, to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023.

Luke was born June 8, 1971, in Findlay. He was the son of Ann (Nelson) Rankey-Welch of Rawson and Tom (Judy) Davis of Findlay, and they both survive.

Luke attended Trinity Lutheran School as a youth and graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1989. After high school, Luke attended Bowling Green State University and majored in Business. He was a proud member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, where he served as the Chaplain and historian for the house. He graduated from Bowling Green in 1994.

Luke married Brenda (Richmond) Davis on Aug. 14, 1999, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Findlay. They were married for 24 years and lived in Jenera. Luke lived for his boys. He coached many of their sports at Cory-Rawson because he loved spending time with them. When he wasn't coaching, he was lining the football field or running the play clock for CRHS football games.

You would find Luke behind his video camera proudly recording all of Nathan and Eric's games and then making them into videos for the entire team and all of the parents. When Luke wasn't at Cory-Rawson, he could be found reading history books, usually American Civil War related. He could turn any conversation into an interesting history lesson. Luke had a huge fun-loving personality and he didn't know a stranger. He was proud to of grown up in Jenera and he loved to tell stories about the Oktoberfest, as well as all of the stories and people that have come and gone. He treasured his collection of Jenera items that he would share to his favorite facebook page, "Jenera, did you know?" He looked forward to his Thursday night card games, yearly father-son fishing trip, and going on various adventures with his fraternity brothers from Phi Kappa Tau.

Luke was thrilled to be a "Pa Pa" to his grandson, Liam. Liam was the light of his life and they loved going to the park and playing with monster trucks and pretending to be dinosaurs.

He was also excited that later in life he became a first time uncle to his niece, Rocklyn.

His joy in life came from seeing others happy.

Luke is also survived by his wife, Brenda of Jenera; sons, Nathan (Kayleah) Davis of Arlington and Eric Davis of Jenera; grandson, Liam Davis of Arlington; sister, Hope (Josh) Numbers of Redbank, New Jersey; niece, Rocklyn Numbers of Redbank, New Jersey; stepsisters, Amy (Terry) Eck of Findlay, Amanda (Paul) Welch of Englewood, Colorado, Terresa (Richard) Houck-Prell of Colon, Michigan, and Julie (Steve) Powell Armbrust of Killbuck; stepbrother, Cameron (Alicia) Welch of Mentor; and mother-in-law, Diana Richmond of Gilboa.

Luke was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Beatrice Rankey and Raymond and Julia Davis; stepgrandfather, Herman Ault; father-in-law, Elmo Richmond; and sister-in-law, Rhonda Richmond.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 620 North Main Street, Arlington. Luke's funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera, with the Rev. Robert Krueger officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with a family luncheon immediately back at the church after the graveside service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Davis family or Cory-Rawson Athletic Boosters.

Luke was a very special friend and co-worker who made me laugh every day. His enthusiasm to help our customers will be greatly missed. I especially enjoyed talking about history and the Civil War with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will never be forgotten.
