Linda L. Parker
Linda Lou Parker, 74, of Deshler, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore, after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1948, to Wayne "Tag" and Virginia Christman. Linda attended Deshler elementary, junior and senior high school. She was a member of the concert and marching band. She was also a majorette, cheerleader, and honor roll student. She graduated in 1966 and then attended Riverside Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo. She graduated as a registered nurse and received her license in Sept., 1969.
She married Roger K. Parker on Oct. 19, 1969. They lived in Toledo from 1969-1972 and then returned to Deshler and built their home. While living in Deshler, she worked at Riverside Hospital until she began working at the former Oak Grove Nursing Home and then for the late Dr. Robert Blough's office. After her career in nursing, she became the secretary at Christman Bros. Builders, working with her father and uncles. She became a second generation part-owner of the company along with her brother and cousins. She would retire in 2016 after suffering a stroke and severe seizure.
Linda was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler, where she was a Sunday school teacher and administrator of the scholarship fund and many other duties. She was a former EMT with Deshler EMS and member of the former Deshler Doctor Committee. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, and business woman. She loved shopping for her family, eating out at restaurants, particularly steak houses, Red Lobster, and Saturday morning breakfasts at Mama Roses, Deshler.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Roger Parker; daughter, Andrea Summers, and her husband, Kyle Wise of Columbus; son, Brian Parker of Venice, California; brother, Wayne "Junior" Christman, and wife Barbara of Deshler; grandson, Nicholas Summers; granddaughter, Amanda Summers; granddogs, Jesus Ryder and Abigail Rose; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Christman; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Erma Parker.
Linda's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler, and a luncheon will follow at Deshler American Legion Hall.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler Edwin Wood Memorial Library, Tunnels to Towers, or Henry County D.A.V.
