Leontine Eileen "Teena" Bender

Leontine Eileen "Teena" Bender went to her Lord and Savior on Sunday March 19, 2023, while residing at Judson Palmer Home, Findlay.

Leontine was born March 14, 1932, in Findlay, to Marvin and Methyl (Aurand) Schwab. She married Orin B. Bender Jr. on June 5, 1948, and he preceded her in death.

Leontine loved to nurture everyone she ever had the pleasure to meet. She helped raise her little brother, Max L. Schwab, when she was just 12 years old. She and Orin had four children together, Daniel L. (Jon) Durango of Colorado, Karla E. (Steve) Beck of Findlay, Scott W. (Nancy) Marshville of Wisconsin, and Jack R. (Jane) Bender of Findlay.

Leontine received her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Certification and enjoyed a long career caring for patients at Blanchard Valley Hospital and several nursing homes in Findlay. She raised her family with a very strong faith. She loved her first dog, Corkey, so much that every family dog raised at the Bender home would be named Corkey. She lived life to the fullest, working full-time, taking care of the home, raising her children, going camping, having backyard parties, being creative, and volunteering with the campfire girls and cub scouts. She loved reading every book, magazine, and paper that she could get her hands on. She read the Bible over and over again.

She is survived by her children; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Max L. Schwab Corinth, Texas; nephew, Mark Schwab of Texas; and niece, Tammy Schwab of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband; mother; and father.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Judson Palmer Home for the loving care of our mother, along with the gentle hospice care provided by a team of nurses, the Chaplin, and support staff from ProMedica.

Private services by the family will take place at a later date.
