Larry Hoover Obituary

Larry John Hoover

Larry John Hoover, 72, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, surrounded by family.

He was born Sept. 2, 1950, in Columbus, to John and Evelyn (Riegel) Hoover. He married Jane (Stanfield) Hoover on March 27, 1976, in Upper Sandusky. They were married for 42 years until she preceded him in death May 26, 2018.

Larry is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca (Matt) Douglas and Sara (Daniel) Benner; five grandchildren, Emma and Adeline Douglas, and Luke, Elizabeth, and Caleb Benner; and five siblings, Steve (Diana) Hoover of Upper Sandusky, Tom (Gretchen) Hoover of Galloway, Kathy (William) Sumner of San Antonio, Texas, Linda (Michael) Barth of Upper Sandusky, and Peggy (Dean) England of Upper Sandusky.

Larry was a graduate of McComb High School and graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He was a licensed professional engineer. After living and working in Cincinnati after college, Larry returned to Findlay. Shortly after being married to Jane, Larry came to work at Ridge and Associates, Findlay, where he became President of the company, serving 35 years until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Larry was committed to supporting Christian ministries and went on several mission trips to Honduras and Guatemala. Larry faithfully attended Trinity Evangelical Church, Upper Sandusky, and enjoyed fellowship at Men's Bible Study on Tuesday nights at Buffalo Trading Company, Findlay.

For hobbies, Larry enjoyed golfing and following Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids which included riding a golf cart around his yard, taking them out for breakfast, playing games, and playing with his model trains together.

He placed his faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. While Larry's family grieves his loss, they cherish memories of his quiet strength and generosity and take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of Christ.

Larry's graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Riverview Cemetery (just north of Mt. Blanchard) with Pastor Jim Stauffer officiating.

Larry's celebration of life will be 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, at Trinity Evangelical Church, 108 Malabar Dr., Upper Sandusky.

Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.

Memorials may be made in Larry's honor to Jane Hoover Honduran Mission Memorial Fund at Trinity Evangelical Church, Upper Sandusky.
