Kevin Crook Obituary

Kevin James Crook

Kevin James Crook, 66, died at Blanchard Valley Hospital Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He was born September 20, 1958, to Ron and MaryJane (Wehrle) Crook. His father, Ron, preceded him in death.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Karen (Steven/Rider) Crook, of 40 years. He is also survived by his son, Tom (Andrea Bowman) Crook and Mike (Crook) Christy; grandsons, Dylan, and Nolan; stepson, Jason Rider; and grandson, Hudson Rider. Also surviving are sisters, Karen (Jeff) Smith, Stephanie Crook-Ramm, Tina (Orlando) Ruiz, and Heidi (Sheila Ludwig) Crook; and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin served in the Navy from 1976 to 1980. He worked for and retired from I.B.E.W. as a Journeyman after more than 30 years. Kevin was a member of International Defensive Pistol Association, U.C.O.A., and Northwest Ohio 4 wheelers.

Kevin ran for mayor of the City of Findlay in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, and hand-forging knives. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle. Every May, he would ride to Washington D.C. for "Rolling Thunder" and then the name changed to "Ride to Remember."

COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, has been entrusted with arrangements. There will be no services at this time, but the family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Kevin and I worked together at Keystone Foods in North Baltimore. He was our local GEM electrician. He was the job supervisor for several projects as well as our first choice whenever we needed to change a high voltage motor. My role often put me in direct contact with Kevin. He had a unique blend of professionalism, high standards for the work and an easy-going attitude that is rare in the high stress industrial setting. He kept everything in perspective and never got rattled when faced with an unexpected challenge. He taught me more than just electrical lessons. I am grateful to have known him. RIP my friend.

Kevin was here when I was born. He was already his own person and I was just the baby sister who wanted to tag-a-long. Always.
We were raised under the same roof. We watched the same television. As we got older, we played with the kids of our neighbors, but we weren't so very close. We were different people. Kevin was outgoing and seemed capable of accomplishing each thing he tried. As we grew up we went our separate ways.

Still, the bond of family is like a quilt. Each quilt square is stitched together on their own merit. When joined together by our memories, it becomes something beautiful. Kevin's name was written into the chapters of my life before I was born. Even when we weren't on the same page throughout the book, his story was there. And his story will still go own in the family he has created. I respect his story and my memories will give me comfort.

Losing my brother Kevin is a loss of a childhood and the ache in my heart for the loss of someone who was always there from my birth.
