Kelly H. Strate

Kelly H. "Grumpy" Strate, 66, of Leipsic, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at The Meadows of Leipsic.

He was born May 17, 1957, in Gouverneur, New York, to Leonard and Lucy (Denesha) Strate. His mother survives and his father preceded him in death. He married Rebecca Boyles on May 24, 2008, and acquired five children from this marriage and 11 grandchildren of whom he loved as if they were his own.

Kelly is survived by five children, David (Susann), Jon (Kelsey), Jamie (Ryan), Trisha (Chris), and Robbie; 11 grandchildren; five siblings, Tom (Brenda), Jerry, Emmy (Don), Rick (Linda), and Peggy (Brian); many nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Timber.

Kelly worked at The Meadows of Leipsic.

Kelly's funeral will be private Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. A celebration of life will be in the spring.

Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.

Kelly courageously battled cancer of the appendix for 16 months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.

We are truly sorry to hear of Kelly's passing, our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family there and to his dear mom, Lucy and his brothers and sisters here in the north country. May, Kelly be at rest in the arms of our Lord, where there is no pain or suffering any longer, but peace and happiness with those who have awaited to be joined with him again. Amen.
