Karl Rieman Obituary

Karl L. Rieman

Bluffton

Karl L. Rieman, 89, of Bluffton Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at his home. Karl was born on August 11, 1933 to the late John and Mary (Maag) Rieman on the family homestead west of Glandorf, Ohio. He married Teresa Ann (Kuhlman) Rieman on July 1, 1961, and she preceded him in death on July 9, 2010. Karl is survived by one son, Tony (Jennifer) Rieman of Arlington, five daughters, Diana (Tim) Bucher of Findlay, Karla (Mark) Stechschulte of Findlay, Beth Romero of Raleigh, NC, Sue (Wayne) Pickford of Gahanna, and Lori (Chad) Wolford of Bluffton. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Sarah (Rob) Davis, Alise (Jason) Krempa, Leah (Matt) Morehart, Jenna (Sam) Maag, Natasha and Marco Romero, Joseph Rieman, Vanessa (Hunter) Bernhardt, Jack and Anthony Pickford, Luke and Paige Wolford; and 5 great-grandchildren, Will and Sam Davis, Caroline and Bryce Krempa, and Benjamin Morehart. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn (James) Blankemeyer, sister-in-law Rosie Rieman, brothers-in-law Martin Kuhlman and Jerry Schimmoeller, sisters-in-law Sr. Mary Kuhlman, Wilma (Norman) Inkrott, Rosemary Kuhlman, and a very special friend, Patsy Toll. Karl was preceded in death by his brother James Rieman and his wife Marjorie, and brother Rudy Rieman, brother-in-law Carl Kuhlman, and sisters-in-law Nancy Schimmoeller, and Ruthie Nartker and her husband, David. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton and the Korean War Veterans' Association of Findlay. Karl was raised in a hard working, Catholic farm family of German descent. At the age of 23, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country by guarding the 38th parallel in Korea following the Korean War. He then returned home and began his lifelong career as a farmer. Karl was an innovator and forward thinker. He was one of the first to adopt no-till farming in this area and was always eager to research and learn about the latest techniques in farming. Karl also started his own custom lime hauling business and felt fortunate to make acquaintances with so many fellow farmers. When Karl was not hard at work, he enjoyed meeting with his "Coffee Club," at The Station (Winnie's) or McDonald's in Bluffton. He thoroughly enjoyed talking with others who had various careers and different views and opinions. One of Karl's greatest accomplishments was being a strong role model and provider for his family. He demonstrated this through his steadfast faith and all of life's challenges. He leaves his family with a solid foundation to carry on his legacy.
