She was born March 23, 1929, in Blanchard Township, Hancock County, near McComb, to Willis M. and Helen M. (Bleam) Putnam. Joyce married Russell D. Hauenstein Sr. at the home of her parents near Carey, and he preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1995.

She is survived by her son, Russell D. (Virginia M.) Hauenstein Jr.; daughter-in-law, Pamela K. Hauenstein; sister, Carol K. (Carlton) Mittermaier; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Hauenstein and Ruby Vermilya; grandchildren, Nicole M. (Jake) Burgy, Nathaniel D. (Dawn M.) Hauenstein, Jonathan D. (Julie B.) Hauenstein, Andrew M. Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Donovan E. Hauenstein; brother, Willis M. Putnam Jr.; and sisters, Rita J. Hendricks, Janet L. Heck, Annette J. Faber, and Cindy A. Walker.

Joyce was a 1947 graduate of Carey High School where she was a majorette. She then graduated from Warner Beauty School in Toledo. Since Joyce and her family joined our family 48 years ago, she has been the perfect example of a Mother, Grandma, and Grandma Great. During the past serveral years, I spent Saturdays with her helping with housework. Happy to hear about her younger life, view her paintings, and plans for the future!
