Her father died in World War II and her mother later remarried William Seamans, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Paul T. "Ted" Lucas on March 1, 1956, in Paris, France, and he preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2015.

She is survived by three sons, Philip (Patty) Lucas of Findlay, Eric (Marjie) Lucas of Wallace, North Carolina, and Daniel (Renee) Lucas of Nevada, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Suzanne (Matt) Crouch of Findlay, Jonathon (Ashley) Lucas of Findlay, Brett Lucas and Kevin Lucas, both of Denver, Colorado, Emily (Sgt. Alex) Vogel of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Spencer (Joy) Lucas of Brooklyn, New York, Zachary (Jamie) Lucas of Upper Sandusky, Sarah (Riordan) McClain of Upper Sandusky, Hannah (Tony) Capuano of Columbus, Meredith (Andrew) Raboin of Nevada, and Noah (Abigail) Lucas, Zeb (Bailee) Lucas, Will (Chleo) Lucas, and Sophia Lucas, all of Nevada; 23 great-grandchildren; and brother, Patrick Seamans of Los Angeles, California.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Pierre Bourtayre; and sister, Margaret Brunner.

Jo was a homemaker and worked along with her husband, Ted, with the family funeral home for many years. She was a member of the former St. Peter's Catholic Church and recently attended John Stewart United Methodist Church, both in Upper Sandusky.

For hobbies, Jo enjoyed traveling to Europe to see family, spending time at her home in Apple Valley, cooking and baking, especially cakes, knitting, reading, and taking care of her Bishon Frise puppies.

Josette's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
