Joseph David Schlachter

The world lost a kind and gentle soul unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, Joseph "Joe" David Schlachter, 45, of Findlay, eldest son of David and Debra (Kirtland) Schlachter. He was born March 10, 1979.

Joe attended Riverdale for most of his education, but graduated from Vanlue High School in 1998. Joe grew up playing football and soccer. As he grew older, Joe became an avid racing fan. Joe made friends wherever he went. He found it exciting making people laugh and smile. Joe loved music, especially rock-and-roll. If you didn't know the name of a band, he was your "go to guy." One of Joe's most loved joys was animals, any type of animal, but especially dogs. His very loved pets, Karma and Lily will miss all the pets, loving and treats given each day by Joe. He also enjoyed sitting on the front porch and surveying the neighborhood.

Joe ran "The Spaghetti Shop" on Trenton Avenue for 10 years. Later, he worked for Kohl's Distribution Center and then USA Cab.

He will be deeply missed by many, especially his nieces and nephews, Ava, Fiona, Alexina, Bradley, David, and Zoey; brother, Jesse Eugene Schlachter; and sister, Kelley Diane Schlachter.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents; and father.

Joe's graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Elm Grove Cemetery, south of Findlay on Ohio State Route 37, with the Rev. Ben Lowell officiating. Friends and family are asked to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's name to Humane Society and SPCA of Hancock County, 4550 Fostoria Avenue, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
