John Snyder Obituary

John David Snyder

John David Snyder, 82, of Findlay, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at his residence.

He was born March 21, 1941, in Findlay, the son of Victor and Rema (Burson) Snyder. He married Sharon Snyder and they later divorced, but remained close friends.

John's survivors include his sons, Michael (Liz) Richbourg of Atlanta, Georgia, Brian D. Snyder of Findlay, and Matt Snyder of Findlay; daughters, Leslie Whitfield of Spring Hill, Florida, and Jennifer (Brian) Staude of Findlay; and six grandchildren, Noah, Macy, Veda, Reuben, Victor, and Haleigh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Nancy Collert and Jean Kohl.

"Big" John was owner and operator of John Snyder Auto Mart in Findlay for 45 years. He was proud to be a lifelong Findlay resident and was a proud, lifelong member of the Elks, and member of Masonic Lodge, Eagles, American Legion, Shrine, and numerous other clubs. He was a card player and was in various pool leagues in the area. John enjoyed his time at his cottage on Lake Erie and time with his boxers and his dog, Millie. He loved old cars and going to auctions and sales, walking at parades with his children's unicycle group, and his weekly "prayer group" meeting. He lived his life doing the things he enjoyed and by his own rules.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, and 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, until the time of John's funeral at 1 p.m., all at COLDEN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Pastor Walt Sheppard will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards Shriner's Children's Hospital.
