JoAnn Windau

JoAnn Windau, 89, Carey, died Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 5:45 a.m. at her residence.

She was born April 28, 1936, in New Straightsville. She was the daughter of the late Frances (Beach) and Ernest Pargeon. JoAnn married John Windau, April 11, 1956, at St. Peter & Paul Church in Ottawa. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Don, Robert, Bill, Phyllis, Marti, and Ruth.

JoAnn is survived by her sister, Judy Wright; her six children, Jack (Joyce) Windau, Tim Windau, Julie (Mike) Murphy, Angie (Sonia) Windau, Jennifer (Ziad) Yammine, and JoEllen (Tom) Cattapan; six grandchildren, Vincent, Karrah, Andrea, Katie, Gwen, and Leo; and four great-grandchildren, Calloway, Jersey, Lorelei, and Matheo.

JoAnn was a graduate of Ottawa High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation parish and Rosary Altar Society. She was a cook for OLC School and OLC Friars. She was a homemaker and receptionist for optometrist, Dr. Chambers.

JoAnn's interests were cooking and baking, reading, singing, and sewing. She loved to sing and was a member of the Ecumenical Christmas Choir. She also volunteered for Fr. Paul Faroh's baking crew.

Family and friends will be received for visitation at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey. Mass of Christian burial will follow visitation at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey, following funeral service.
