Jay Rice Obituary

Jay V. Rice

Jay V. Rice, 79, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at Blanchard Valley Hospital with his family by his side.

Jay was born March 3, 1944, in Gatlesburg, Kentucky, to Allen and Grace Rice. He married Elizabeth Woodruff in 1966 and she precedes him in death. He is survived by his stepson, Randy Woodruff; sister, Ann Ward; and brothers, Gary (Sharon), Doug (Jane), and Ed McDonald.

Jay was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Randy, Larry, Ted, Ben, David, Carl Rice, and Daniel McDonald; sisters, Betty Jo, Addie Mae, Barbara Ann, and Kimberly McDonald; great-niece, Misty McDonald; nephew, Danny Warner; and stepfather, Tom McDonald. He was a member at Moose and life member of Amvets, VFW 5645, and Dav. Findlay Eagles 2118. He served in U.S Army. I would like to thank BVH for the care they gave Jay and making him as comfortable as they could. A big thank you to his nephews, Dave Rice and Mike Ward, for being there with him every day. He also leaves behind special buddies, Dave Rosenberger, Jim Waxler, Gus Parks, David Craig, and Denny Powell for always watching over him at the VFW. He was a huge Bengals fan and Ohio State fan. He leaves behind lots of nieces and nephews and loved all of them. He loved doing karaoke with his family and friends.

There will be a memorial dinner at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at The Moose Lodge.

"Go rest high on that mountain, Jay."
