Jay Pilcher Obituary

Jay C. Pilcher

Jay Clarence Pilcher, 74, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at The Heritage.

He was born Jan. 3, 1950, in Findlay, to George and Dora (Downs) Pilcher.

Jay was one of the most dedicated and hard-working men ever! He spent his whole life working on cars for pleasure. He was employed over the past four decades at Hyway Trucking. He was instrumental in their growth and making sure the shop was managed with pride.

Jay spent half his life as a racer. He raced go-karts and every stock and sprint class available at multiple tracks. He even at one point drag-raced a snowmobile in the summer. Jay will always be known as Findlay's original #63. His passion later in life was Volkswagens. Jay knew about every vintage V.W in Findlay. He was the master restorer and he took all his knowledge with him.

Jay is survived by his loving children, Jody (Eric) Giesey of Findlay, Jamie Pilcher (Myra VanAtta) of Vanlue, and Casey J. Pilcher of Findlay; six beloved grandchildren, Carson Pilcher, Caleb Pilcher, Maisi Pilcher, Brandi Feeney, Paige Brodine, and Carson Brodine; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Darlene (Denny) DeSalve of Findlay and Carl Mericle of Newport News, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Mericle and Darl Mericle.

Visitation for friends and family will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, 419-422-1500.
