Jason E. Guinn
Jason Errol Guinn, 91, of Findlay, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2023. Jason was a veteran of the Korean War, USAF 1951-1954.
He was born Jan. 25, 1931, on the family farm in Dunkirk, Hardin County, to the late Jason and Emma (Sapp) Guinn.
After graduating from Dunkirk High School in 1949, he enlisted in U.S. Air Force and served as an Airman in radio systems, initially stationed in Alaska. A shelter he built there was once featured on the cover of Look Magazine. After his service, he applied the skills he learned in the Air Force to open his own business, Errol Guinn T.V. (phone GA 2-4624), and to work as a radio and television repairman for several years. He later worked at Whirlpool where he retired after 25 years of service.
He married his sweetheart, Elida Guinn (Chapa), on May 27, 1976, and she preceded him in death Jan. 30, 2020. Jason and Elida were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Jason loved conversing and people say "He never met a stranger." In his earlier years, he enjoyed ping pong, square dancing, camping, and fishing. After retiring, he enjoyed spending winters in Florida and Texas with his beloved wife. He loved spending time with family and friends and frequenting stores to say hello to his favorite people. He wore his Korean War Air Force Veteran hat so that the war may no longer be forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Pamela (Bill) Human, Marianne Baker, Dory DeLaCruz, and Teresa (Abel) Palacios; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brother, Jesse Guinn; and grandson, Jacob Rizor.
"He never met a stranger. Every person in the world, to him, was just a friend he hadn't met yet. He always saw the good in people. Sometimes, that's all he would see, even if no one else could see it." - Melanie Shawn, Sweet Reunion
