Jane Ann Pelton

Jane Ann Pelton, 76, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at home after an year-and-a-half battle with cancer.

Jane Ann was born June 4, 1946, in Van Wert, to the late C. Robert and Wanda (Weaver) Baker. She married Burr Pelton on Aug. 31, 1968, and he survives.

Jane Ann is survived by two sons, Tymm (Amie) Pelton of Deshler and Michael (Lisa) Pelton of Dodge City, Kansas; and six grandchildren, Iona Grace, Thomas Edward, Grace Evelyn, Andrew David, Jonathan Robert, and Emma Jane Pelton.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Baker, on Aug. 16, 1990; grandson, Phineas Burr Pelton, on Jan. 8, 2003; and an unborn grandchild.

Jane Ann attended high school at Van Wert High School until her junior year and then graduated from Findlay High School. She began her college journey at Ohio Northern University, where she met her future husband, Burr Pelton. She then finished her degree at Fort Wayne Business College. Following college, she began work at Campbell Soup Company. Jane Ann enjoyed staying at home with her children for several years and then transitioned out of her home and worked for Findlay Public Schools as a school secretary, completing her career with more than 20 years as head secretary at Central Middle School in Findlay.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Church, Benton Ridge, where she was an active participant in Share and Care Sunday School Class, Children's Ministries, Live Nativity Scene, and other church activities.

Jane Ann enjoyed traveling to Charlevoix, Michigan, and Dodge City, Kansas, reading mystery books (having read more than 484 books), and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a Cub Scout den mother for a number of years and enjoyed camping and watching deer.

Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and watching their many activities as they grew up.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, and 12-1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. Jane Ann's funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kimberly Reese officiating.
