James Wellman

James Wellman, 77, of Columbus Grove and formerly of Findlay, passed away at 7:38 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at Toledo Promedica Hospital.

He was born Jan. 26, 1945, in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth and Sue (Kirk) Wellman. He married Donna Chase on Aug. 15, 1964, and she survives.

Jim is also survived by a son, Steven (Elizabeth) Wellman of Dunkirk; daughter, Michelle (Elliott) Krochmalny of Mt. Cory; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Brittany), Dustin, Ashley (Brandon), Colten, Ethan, Kipp, Bailey, and Caleb; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Luther (Kay) Wellman and John (Stella) Wellman; and sisters, Mary Garza and Marjorie Van Horn.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwayne Wellman and Kenneth Wellman, who died in infancy.

Jim was an U.S. Army veteran and also served in Army National Guard Reserves. Jim was retired and he and Donna were members of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Lima, Ohio.

Jim always enjoyed camping, tinkering with golf carts and cars in his garage, and most of all being with his grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be 1-3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. Jim's memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and be officiated by Brother Mike Skinner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wellman Family in care of Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home.
