James Myers Obituary

James Russell Myers

James Russell Myers, 86, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, entered into heaven Sunday, July 20, 2025. Jim was born in Kenton, Ohio, on March 21, 1939, to the late Mary (Hayter) and Clayton Myers, and spent his childhood there.

Immediately after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving six years. After his service, he moved to Columbus, working for North American Aviation. He then moved to Findlay, working for RCA and then Whirlpool. He retired from Whirlpool in 1994.

Some of his greatest joy came from his two daughters. They have many fond memories of trips as a family, including visits to Florida and fishing trips to Canada.

He played an active role in the lives of his grandchildren by teaching them how to fish. He loved to spend afternoons with his grandkids playing mini golf, taking them to Cedar Point and water parks, or for ice cream treats.

Jim had many passions in life, including renovating the Lake Erie house and buying and selling old cars. He loved spending time on Lake Erie, soaking up sunshine and watching the beautiful sunsets on a summer night. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He would fall asleep at night listening to the waves hit the beach.

He enjoyed watching the OSU Buckeyes play football. He also enjoyed doing puzzles and whenever surrounded by company you could be sure he would seize the opportunity for a game of Euchre or Hand and Foot. He really enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and Mexico.

Jim was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well-liked by everyone, mostly due to his dry sense of humor. Jim had incredible patience and always made time to help others.

Jim is survived by Pat Maidment, his devoted companion, with whom he shared decades of love and adventures; and his combined family, including daughters, Lori (Dan) Eaton and Lisa (Chris Casati) Ford; Pat's children, Tom (Cathy) Ruble, Angie (Phil) Crutchfield, Adam (Amber) Maidment; 15 grandchildren, Dana (Ross), Carly (Jared), Grant (Ashley), Clay (Aimee), Logan (Michelle), Malynn (Garrett), Miranda, Kaitlyn, Randy (Erin), Emma (Cam), Addison, Meat, Wyatt, Gretta, Norah; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack Myers; a half brother, Rick Wormly; and a granddaughter, Kayla.

Visitation for Jim will be from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840. Additional visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until time of his funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay.

Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to Cancer Patient Services, 1800 North Blanchard, Suite 120, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
