James Johnson Obituary

James "Jim" Johnson

James "Jim" Johnson, 79, of Findlay, peacefully passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

He was born March 26, 1943, in Carlisle, to the late Earl and Daisy (Mallet) Johnson. He married MaryJane Snyder on July 4, 1977, and she survives in Findlay.

Jim is also survived by two daughters, Lori (Robert) Kosch of New Bremen and Rochelle Johnson of Columbus; and three brothers, Charles of Columbus, Darl of Richmond, Virginia, and Ronnie L. (Diane) of Pine Hurst.

Jim was a 1961 graduate of Caldwell High School and Bliss Business College in Columbus. He retired from Cummins Engine Company (Atlas Crankshaft), Fostoria, with 30 years of service. He then started his own company called "Surelook Homes" (home inspection) from 1995-2002.

Jim was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed riding thousands of miles with his friends. He collected Disney "Goofy" memorabilia and his biker friends called him Goofy. Jim loved to play his guitar and was lead singer of the country music band, Tulsa Time. He loved studying Japanese culture and teaching his Japanese friends about American language and culture.

Jim followed The Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams all of his life.

Jim and Janie were animal lovers and were thankful for all the dogs, cats, birds, horses, goats, sheep, and rabbits that shared their lives. He will miss the last little yellow dog "Mindy" who brought happiness to him in his final years.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Jim's service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Travis Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Ln., Findlay, Ohio, 45840, who were so very kind in his final days.
