James N. Hagerty

James N. Hagerty, 86, of rural Vanlue, went home to meet his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He passed away at The Heritage. He was born in Vanlue February 4, 1938, to the late Harold P. Bernice H. (Leichty) Hagerty. He first married Connie Farmer, and she preceded him in death; he then married Rebecca Fanning June 15, 1984, and she survives. Also surviving are six sons, Jon (Cindy) Hagerty, Steve (Lisa) Hagerty, Greg (Anne) Hagerty, Daniel Hagerty, Andrew (Ashley) Hagerty, Nicholas (Taylor) Hagerty; four daughters, Peg Bakies, Dawn (Bryan) Fruth, Amy (Jeff Crace) Gonzales and Elizabeth (Jospeh) Borkosky; brother, Tom Hagerty; sister, Martha Von Schmidt-Pauli; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

A brother, David also preceded him in death.

He was a 1956 graduate of Vanlue High School and was a lifelong farmer (4th generation) farming over 60 years on the family farm. He enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, going to church, watching his kids and grandkids playing sports, and was a lifetime supporter of Vanlue where he helped in coaching several sports. He was an avid OSU and Cleveland Indians fan. Jim was a member of Word of Truth Christian Center. He loved animals and nature. He also did mission work in several other countries and locally.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Chet Conley officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lee Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Hancock County Ag Society directed to Junior Fair.
