Jack Lee Meek

Jack Lee Meek, 91, of Findlay, passed away early Thursday morning, July 28, 2022, at home with his loving wife, Nancy, by his side. He was born April 30, 1931, in Findlay, to the late Dexter and Violet (Brown) Meek. He married Nancy Carol Bame who survives with their children, David Meek of Corning, New York, Dennis (Susan) Meek of Westerville, Kathy (Keith) Dierking of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Lisa (Gary) Rozelle of Findlay; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by twin sister, Patty Yoder; and sister, Bernadine Clements.

Jack was a 1949 graduate of Findlay High School and attended Bowling Green State University until joining the Marine Corp. in 1951. He served as a corporal in Japan during the Korean War and continued in the Marine Reserves until 1956. Jack started work at Marathon Oil Company in 1954 and worked there almost 39 years until his retirement in 1993. Jack met Nancy at Marathon, marrying in June, 1955, and just recently celebrated 67 happily married years. They were members of First Lutheran Church where he served as deacon, enjoyed Bible studies, and often ushered. He was a proud father and loved traveling and music, making sure the family had many vacations and that his children had a music education, always attending their performances. He had many interests including gardening, fishing, tennis, biking, FHS sports, and Riverside summer concerts. He was past member of the Exchange Club and was active for many years in Hancock County Naturalists where he indulged a love of bird watching.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with the funeral at 1 p.m. followed by burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.coldrencrates.com.
