J. Ladd

J. Ladd, 82, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

He was born March 17, 1941, in Columbus, to Richard and Fern (Siegenthaler) Ladd. He married Patricia Ann Gose on Nov. 6, 1965, and she preceded him in death Oct. 24, 2023.

J. is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Jon) Lieb and Abigail (Matthew Thomas) Ladd, both of Findlay; and brother, Richard (Janet) Ladd of Columbus.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and stepfather, Dale Reese.

J. and Pat were involved with American Field Service where they gained two sons, Andrea Salvi of Italy and Alexander Wirkus of Germany.

J. proudly served in U.S. Army from 1963-1965. J. was a hairdresser in Findlay for over 60 years. He especially loved working in theater, whether it was on stage or doing hair, or many times, both! J. volunteered for many years with Fort Findlay Playhouse, The University of Findlay theater, Findlay Light Opera Company, and was a member of The University of Findlay Curtain Raisers, having served as a board member and was inducted to their Wall of Fame.

Visitation for family and friends will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Downtown Chapel, 617 West Main Cross Street, Findlay. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, where full military honors will be conferred by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Donations in J.'s memory may be shared with Fort Findlay Playhouse, 300 West Sandusky St., Findlay.

What a terrible loss! J did hair for me for many theater productions as well as personally on a regular basis! He was a colleague and a good friend! The world will miss that never-ending million-dollar smile and his incredibly warm heart!

I just can´t believe it. I´ve known J for over 35 years. He was such a wonderful man & I even took my 3 boys to him for haircuts. So patient & wonderful with them. My parents knew him well too. Mark & I will miss you.
