Geraldine "Gerri" (Boos) Thomas, 82, formally of Grand Rapids, Ohio, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living, Findlay.

She is survived by her sister, Illa Frusher; daughter, Karen Oswald; son-in-law, William Carrol; granddaughter, Brandi Oswald; and grandson, Thomas Carrol.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dean; and daughter, Janet Carrol.

Gerri was married to her soulmate, Dean, for 33 years until he passed away in 1991. She served as Otsego Middle School secretary for 35 years. She loved her job, friends, and the kids. Her daughters shared her with hundreds of kids who needed a class schedule, smile, or hug. After she retired, she became a member of Perrysburg Senior Center and participated in many activities. She was also a member of United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids. Gerri was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed trips with family and friends. She moved to Brookdale in July, 2022, with her two cats, Fred and Willie, where she enjoyed making friends, playing bingo, and the many music programs. Thank you to our Brookdale family for taking such wonderful care of "Mama Gerri."

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Hanneman Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Gerri's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
