Gerald Glick Obituary

Gerald William Glick

Gerald William Glick of Arlington entered the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Gerald was born July 12, 1941, in Bluffton to George William and Alfrieda (Bosse) Glick, who both preceded him in death.

Gerald married the love of his life, Nancy Kay Zuber, December 26, 1964. Nancy went to be with Jesus June 14, 2020, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Gerald is survived by his children, Dean (Lisa) of Arlington, Terri (Charles) Bogar of San Deigo, California, and Pastor David William (Mary) of Bluffton; and grandchildren, Casey (Sydney) Glick, Cory (Randi) Glick, Cody (McKenzie) Glick, Chase Glick, Ashley (Nicholas) Brooks, Haddy Glick, Judah Glick, and Lucy Glick; and great-grandchildren, Delaney Glick, Kenadey Glick, Breydan Glick, Paisley Glick, Raleigh Glick, Lennon Glick, Forrie Glick, Hudson Glick, Hope Brooks and Nicholas Brooks Jr. In addition, Gerald is survived by his brother and best friend, Jerome C. Glick; and his son, John (Heidi) Glick; and many other cousins.

Gerald's sister-in-law, Betty Glick, preceded him in death.

Gerald was a proud 1959 graduate of Arlington High School, Northwestern School of Commerce in 1961, and a number of banking seminars, as well as some courses from Dale Carnegie and later, became an assistant instructor for Dale Carnegie courses. He started working for Ohio Bank as a teller, and after working at the bank for 37 years, he retired as a Vice President. Later Gerald worked at Winebrenner Seminary for five years and then for Moyer Financial Services for 10 years. He also had his own lawn care and snow removal service for a few years.

Gerald served proudly in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy with NATO Forces of Southern Europe. He was involved in farming on the family farm for most of his life and he enjoyed making maple syrup with his brother, Jerome.

Gerald also enjoyed going to the family cottage at Higgins Lake every summer with his family.

Gerald accepted Christ at a Bill Glass Crusade in the 1970s. It changed his life, leading to his serving in Gideons International with his wife, Nancy, for the rest of their lives. Gerald served the Gideons on the State Cabinet and was a speaker for the Gideons for many years. He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran, Community Bible Church, and later Bible Fellowship, where he served those churches in many areas.

Over the years, Gerald was active in a number of clubs and advisory boards, including the Findlay Exchange Club, Findlay Salvation Army (past president), Hancock County Foster Children Advisory Board, and the Arlington School Board (past president). He also enjoyed playing dart ball for many years on the St. Paul Lutheran church team.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Arlington. Homegoing services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton, with Pastor Jerry Kellog and Pastor David William Glick officiating. Visiting time will also be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be prior to the service at 9 a.m. along with full military rites at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Jenera.

In lieu of flowers, and per Gerald's wishes, all memorials can be made to Gideons International.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of your loved one. I often visit my mother at Willow Ridge, each visit included an opportunity to pray with Gerald as he offered the daily blessing during meals. His love for God and kindness toward others was palpable! May he forever rest comfortably in the arms of our Lord.
