George Milligan Obituary

George C. Milligan

George C. Milligan peacefully departed this earthly existence Sunday, January 11, 2026. George was born July 21, 1940, to Charles S. Milligan and Jean C. Keineth Milligan in Lima, Ohio. He attended public schools in Coshocton, Ohio, where he graduated in 1958. George attended Denison University, where he was a member of the social fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He then served six months of active duty and over five years of reserve duty in the U.S. Army. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1963 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

George joined the firm of Adams and Richmond, CPA's in Ashtabula, Ohio, as an accountant. In 1964, he was employed by Cooper Tire and Rubber Company as a systems analyst. In 1969, he joined First National Bank (now Fifth Third) as their first marketing officer. In 1972, George established his own accounting firm after earning his CPA designation. After various reorganizations, that firm is known as Stall & Company, CPAs. George retired as a CPA in 2012.

George married and later divorced Patricia Michl, and together they had three children, Lynn M. Milligan (Dean Chai), Seattle, Washington, Susan J. (Tom) Defelice, Trieste, Italy, and Matthew C. (Wendii Brooks) Milligan, Louisville, Kentucky.

On December 27, 1975, George married Pauline (PJ) Johnston, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage.

Early in his career, George was affiliated with Findlay Jaycees, Optimist Club, and Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors program. He has served on the board of directors and past president for ADAMAS, where he received the Ohio Mental Health Services' "Unsung Hero" award in 2008, American Cancer Society, and Findlay Arts Council. He was a 50-year Elks member and a former Rotary member. George was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon and Stephen Minister.

As an avid golfer, George was a life member of Findlay Country Club, serving as president in 1990. He also enjoyed many summers boating and fishing on Lake Erie. George enjoyed traveling with his wife, PJ, and together they explored many parts of the world. He also enjoyed reading and yard work in his later years.

He is survived by his wife, PJ; his three children, Lynn, Susie and Matt; two beloved grandchildren, Isabelle R. Moczygemba of Boston, Massachusetts, and Cyrus Defelice of Seattle, Washington; a great-granddaughter, Adeline Defelice of Seattle, Washington; a brother, Mark C. (Mary) Milligan of Upper Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Missy (Doug) Taylor.

Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service. Interment will be at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Findlay Area Golf Association, Marathon Center for the Performing Arts or a charity of donor's choice.
