George C. King III

George C. King, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2023.

George was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to George and Helen King. As a child, he received the nickname "Bud or Buddy" because there were George Sr., Jr., and III.

He is survived by his three sisters, Helen, Elaine and Linda; son, Jeff; daughter-in-law, Laura; grandson, Jacob; and granddaughter, Morgan.

At the age of 18, George entered U.S. Air Force out of high school and met Doris E. White when he was stationed as a medic at Kinross, Air Force base in Michigan. They married in Rudyard, Michigan, in 1959 while he was in Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating, George started working at Eastman Kodak as an engineer in Rochester, New York. It was also in Rochester where they became parents to son, Jeffrey. They moved to Findlay in 1974 where George spent the rest of his career with Kodak, eventually becoming Plant Manager of the last remaining Kodak plant. George was also an accomplished golfer and was involved at The Findlay Country Club, serving as Club President from 2004-2005. He also spent many years giving back to the community and was passionate about ensuring teachers in the community were recognized for their achievements, serving on the board of Rotary's Golden Apple award for many years.

Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. George's memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
