George G. Fletcher

George G. Fletcher, 86, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

George was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Rochester, New York. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Gladys (Smith) and Evert Hermann. George grew up in Bromley, Kentucky, graduating from Dixie Heights High School. He was drafted into U.S. Army in 1961 and served at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. Alabama. In April, 1964, he married Joyce Trame and they later divorced. He then married Jane Elwood on Jan. 23, 1993, in Lima.

George had a long career in the crude oil pipeline industry and was very proud to have worked for Mid Valley Pipeline Company for 36 years. During his career, he lived and worked all across the southern United States including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Kentucky. He ended his career as a terminal foreman in Lima before moving to Findlay. He resided in Findlay for 27 years, the longest of any of the places he lived.

George is survived by his wife, Jane (Elwood) Fletcher; children, Kevin (Chris) Fletcher, Kyle Fletcher, Kurtis (Kirsten) Fletcher, Kimberlee (Nick) Wurst, and Shelby (Alex) Ervin; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and niece, Linda (Jerry) Webb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Fletcher; and sister, Kate Kinman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hanneman Funeral Home, Findlay.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023. George's celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Hanneman Funeral Home, Findlay. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
