I hold in my heart all great childhood memories I got to share with you and your family. Like Fishing, Fish cookouts ,Family dinners at Grandma´s. Going out to dinners on beach, Going to beach , walks and more You will be missed by so many who was blessed to have met such a kind person. Give my Dad a hug for me in Heaven . I met Gene probably 45 yrs ago, when we met through FTA (Findlay Tennis Association), he had just recently retired from his RR job etc. Gene was 20 years older than I was, & feeling pretty confident that I could handle Gene in the tennis tournament? Little did I know how scrappy & tough he was! We spent many Saturday mornings playing singles for 2 hours at least. Don´t know who was the winner in the final tally? But, I learned so much from Gene about life & being a good person, He helped me & my family in so many ways that I can´t begin to describe. Gene was the nicest person I ever had the pleasure of knowing!

Some of my best memories are of fishing with my Uncle Gene. Man, those mangrove snappers were good! He was the nicest person I've ever known. I'll miss you, Uncle Gene, but I know we'll be fishing together again someday!

Our condolences to the Thompson family. We were blessed to attend Upper Room church with Gene and Georgia. We now live in TN and one of the highlights when we would return home for a visit was to have Gene with his big smile greet us as we entered the door at the church from the parking lot. After our retirement we would go to FL and made some wonderful memories with the two of them. Gene and Al would climb into his little boat and head down the river hoping to catch enough fish for our evening meal. They always caught plenty and our evening meal fish fry was delicious. Gene had a perfect knack for frying fish. His kindness and Christian walk in life effected all who knew him. He has now reached his lifelong goal and that was to meet his Savior face to face. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and especially Georgia.

One of the great loving men in my life. I owe so much to him for the caring he shared when I was a teenager. Years have passed and I am now 83 but we stayed in contact over the years. I have never know a single soul who had anything bad to say about him. Rest in peace my good friend.
