Gary Franks Obituary

Gary Eugene Franks

Gary Eugene Franks, 79, formerly of McComb and Findlay, peacefully passed away at 3:21p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at his residence in Bradenton, Florida. Gary was born in McComb May 15, 1945, to the late Paul and Helen (Leip) Franks. He married Judy Hector and they were divorced. He is survived by his wife, Sandy (Conine) Franks.

Gary retired in 1997 as a supervisor of manufacturing at Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay, where he had worked since 1968. He was a 1963 graduate of McComb High School and from 2001-2009 was co-owner of Operation Support Services in Findlay. He was on the National Travel Bowling League and Findlay Amvets Men's Fast Pitch Softball Team that played over 100 games each summer. His passion for golf took him to courses all over the country. He was a member of McComb Shady Acres, where he had a hole-in-one and Fostoria Country Club. He loved the Buckeyes, Cowboys and Guardians. Gary's favorite past time was watching his grandkids and great-grandkids playing sports or joining the family in cards and board games.

Gary is also survived by daughters, Rebecca (Joe) Wasson, Penny (Nick) Miller, Dionne Neubauer and Shauna (Trent) Pessell; brother, Larry (Carol) Franks; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Hartley and Karen (Ed) Siferd; grandchildren, Alexis (Matt) Massie, Chelsey (Josh) Haar, Cole (Tyler) Thomas, Cassie Neubauer, Alexander Pessell, Mitchell Miller, Justin Wasson, Kyle Wasson and Lea Pessell; great-grandchildren; Caraline Arndt, Brayden Haar, Riley Massie, Kenzie Massie, Makayla Haar, Ryan Thomas, Watson Massie, Boston Neubauer and Baby Young (on the way!). He was preceded in death by infant children, Randy and Jennifer Franks; sisters, Judy Graham and Patricia Williams. Gary is also survived by his beloved pup, Zoey.

Gary's visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. His funeral service will be at the conclusion of visitation at 6 p.m. with Eric Sudlow officiating. Private interment will take place at McComb Union Cemetery.

Sandy,
I´m so sorry to hear of your loss. Like you, Gary was highly respected and liked by so many people, including myself. I think I will remember his smile most. He could be sweating up a storm addressing a problem in the plant but always wearing that smile.

I remember Gary fondly from Whirlpool. Sandy, you and the rest of the family have my deepest sympathies.
