Gary D. Bricker

Gary D. Bricker, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health System.

Gary was born Jan. 22, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Russell and Ruby Fern (Dorman) Bricker. He married Violet Bradley Bricker on Oct. 14, 1960.

Gary was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and served in the Ohio National Guard. He had worked in the dyno division at the Lima Ford Engine Plant for over 41 years. Gary attended Upper Room Church of God, Findlay, and was a long-time active member at Lima First Assembly of God. He was also a member of Auburn Cord Duesenberg Car Club and Columbus Grove Fender Benders. Gary thoroughly enjoyed and was very passionate about restoring antique Ford cars. He was the best storyteller and volunteered a lot of his time painting fire hydrants in the village of Bluffton.

Gary's survivors include his wife, Violet Bricker of Bluffton; two daughters, Gwyn (Michael) Mauk of Springfield, Missouri, and Amy (Michael) Houser of Zeeland, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Mauk, Benjamin (Amanda) Mauk, Eden (Hector) Cruz, Caleb (Brenna) Houser, Maty (Danielle) Mauk, Jacob Houser, and Chloe (Evan) Potter; seven great-grandchildren and two on the way; sister, Jone Little of Lima; and sister-in-law, Pam Bricker of Bluffton.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mark Bricker and Jay Bricker; and sister, Gail Dunbar.

Gary's services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastors Michael Houser, Ken McBeath, and Terry McBeath will officiate. Burial will be at Cairo East Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
