Ford Sheffel Obituary

Ford Curtis Sheffel

Ford Curtis Sheffel, 93, of Findlay, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at Wood Haven Healthcare, Bowling Green.

Ford was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Findlay, to Ford and Ester (Pheneger) Sheffel. He married Louise Rodabaugh and they later divorced. He then married Julia Fortman in 1982 and she survives.

Ford is also survived by his children, Vickie (Al Daugherty) Aller, Teresa (Barry) Sheffel, Paula (Bryan) Sidle, and JoAnna (Michael) Fairbanks; grandchildren, Christin, Kelly, Bubba, Amanda, Kirk, Diana, Kayla, Jarred, Zachary, Grant, and Scott; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Ford Curtiss Sheffel; and brother, Duane Sheffel.

Ford worked many years as a carpenter and proudly served his country in U.S. Navy, with the Seabees. While serving in Seabees, Ford drove a bulldozer with an automatic weapon on his hip. He was honorary discharged in 1954. Ford loved exploring the western United States. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Findlay, and enjoyed hunting, shooting skeet and sporting clays, and spending time on Lake Erie fishing. Ford was a proud member of the Findlay chapter of Elks, American Legion, and Conservation Club. As part of the Conservation Club, he won many awards for competitions. Most of all, Ford loved spending time with his family. He was an amazing father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

A time to gather and celebrate Ford's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, until a time of sharing memories at 12 p.m. at Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio, 45840. At the conclusion of the memory sharing, military honors will be rendered by Hancock County Memorial Squad.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the Bridge Home Health and Hospice team and the caretakers at Wood Haven Healthcare.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ford's honor to Flag City Honor Flight, P.O Box 885, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
