Evelyn M. Palte
Evelyn M. Palte, 89, of Glandorf, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by family.
She was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Glandorf, to the late Raymond J. and Helen L. (Kern) Schroeder. She married William H. Palte on Nov. 21, 1951, and he preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1992.
Evelyn's survivors include nine children, Elaine (Ron Hermiller) Gilgenbach of Ottawa, William (Rebecca) Palte of Columbus Grove, Mark (Christine) Palte of Apollo Beach, Florida, Michael (Judy) Palte of Findlay, Lynn (Herbert) Michel of Kalida, Kenneth (Sibel) Palte of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Geri (Daniel) Donaldson of Deshler, Jim (Mahrokh) Palte of San Jose, California, and Phil (Judy) Palte of Ottawa; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Hovest of Ottawa, Doris Eith of West Deptford, New Jersey, and Diane Warnecke of Kalida; two brothers, Dale (Ruth) Schroeder of Bowling Green and Gary (Jan) Schroeder of Kalida; and sister-in-law, Jeannie Schroeder of Ottawa.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Petersen; son, Lee Palte; two brothers, Tom and Rosemarie Schroeder and Louis Schroeder; sister, Rita and Elmer Maas; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Eith, Jim Warnecke, and Greg Hovest.
Evelyn was a homemaker and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was very active in her faith and taught religion at Glandorf Elementary. Evelyn made and donated over 5,000 rosaries. She loved books and wrote her own covering the history of Glandorf School. She was also a member of Putnam County Red Cross, where she volunteered to help on many disaster relief missions. Evelyn was very family oriented. She, along with her sister, Doris, compiled a Schroeder Family Tree for her family.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Fr. Matt Keller officiating and her cousin, Fr. Kenneth Schroeder co-officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, and 9-10 a.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
