Elsworth Price Obituary

Elsworth Raymond Price

Elsworth R. Price Jr., of rural Findlay, passed away the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at The Heritage.

He was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Mt. Blanchard, to Elsworth Sr. and Mary (Blair) Price. He moved to Kenton at age 3. He started his 5th grade year in Kenton, moved to West Milton, Beavercreek, New Hampshire (Ohio), then finally back to Beavercreek, all before the end of 5th grade. In the 8th grade, he moved back to Mt. Blanchard, where he graduated with the class of 1951. Elsworth married Bonnie Jean (Almy) Price on June 15, 1951. He served two years in U.S. Army as a radio operator. He worked 45 years in the electrical trade out of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 8 Toledo. He received his 70-year membership certificate and pin in 2021.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a collector of guns, Indian relics, and coins. He loved spending summers in Cedarville, Michigan, with his family.

He was the last of the Mt. Blanchard, Island Park Skinny Dippers. "It's too bad they put a fence up."

He was also a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #43, AmVets Chapter #21, American Legion #3, and Korean War Veterans Chapter #172.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Price; daughters, Gwendolyn Kay (Doug) Schmidt and Lori Jo Schutt; grandchildren, Kristopher (Rhonda) Schutt, Jana (Patrick) Miseta, Jill Frantz, Mike (Galia) Schmidt, Zac (Jess Franklin) Schmidt, and Jordan (Cait) Schutt; and great-grandchildren, Nina Schutt, Jackson Frantz, Ethan Miseta, Alex Frantz, and Eden Schutt.

Elsworth was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Joan Rettig and Bonnie Jean Beck; and son-in-law, Tom Schutt.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay. Additional visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at the funeral home with a procession immediately following to Elm Grove Cemetery where a graveside service with full military honors will be performed by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
