Elizabeth Rush Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Bousk Rush

Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Bousk Rush, 75, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

She was born July 26, 1948, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth Hennick Bousk and Joseph Bousk, who preceded her in death.

Betsy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard (Dick) Rush, whom she married April 14, 1989; daughters, Karrie Schnaufer (Steve Hamilton) of Pasadena, Maryland, and Lee Ann Kubitsky Ireland (Chris) of Findlay; grandsons, Brady and Ben Ireland; and sister, Louise Bousk Quinn (Eddie) of Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

Betsy was a 1966 graduate of Hazleton High School. She attended college at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania while raising her two daughters. She earned a BA in Environmental Science, a BS and a MS in Biology. Her college education was one of her most prized accomplishments. Betsy used her knowledge in virology at various corporations and taught Microbiology to nursing students at Northampton Community College.

Betsy was a member of Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Ellicott City, Maryland, where she was an active volunteer for multiple ministries, and then at College First Church of God in Findlay in the Stephen Ministries and prayer teams. She also gave her time to Hancock Christian Clearing House.

Betsy was an avid reader and it was hard to find a novel she hadn't read. She also loved to quilt and was known for her quick wit. It is unfathomable that she no longer walks this earth.

Betsy's memorial service will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to World Central Kitchen (donate.wck.org) in Betsy's memory. Betsy's life is embodied by the quote "Though she be but little, she is fierce!" - Shakespeare. Her spirit and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
