Duane Edinger Obituary

Duane Edinger

Duane Edinger, 86, of Risingsun, was peacefully called home to the Lord at 3:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2024, while resting at Bridge Hospice, Bowling Green.

He was born April 4, 1938, in Amsden, to Ralph and Nora (Whicker) Edinger. Duane attended Amsden High School. He began his life with his wife, Diana Soule, on June 19, 1976.

Duane served his nation in U.S. Army, where he guarded missile silos. He worked at the Stone Quarry in Bettsville. He also worked at Fostoria Foundry and then Chrysler in Twinsburg. He loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. Duane helped form the gospel singing group "Christian Crusaders." Duane was a member of Girton Church of God for many years. He served as treasurer and also led the singing.

Left to mourn Duane's passing are his children, Harold (Cindy) Edinger of Findlay, Robert (Cindy) Edinger of Hoytville, and Tammy (Allen) Siefer of Marion; sister, Ruth (Ronald) Hedden of Findlay; grandchildren, Bobbie Jo DeCarlo of Findlay, Stacey (Joey) Boyden of Raymond, Sherina (Jeremy) Homesley of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Angela Stevens of North Baltimore, Chelsea (Kyle) Schuchler of Findlay, and Alison (Fadi) Shebaro of Findlay; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Dakoda, Jonah, Guenevere, Jude, Lucy, Ruby, Finn, Abraham, Kayla, Raymond, Grace, and Evelyn; and great-great-grandchildren, Kinsten and Guinevie.

Duane joins in Heaven those who have passed before him, his parents; five brothers; three sisters; and great-grandson, Braiden Stevens.

His family will keep Duane's memory alive by telling stories of his quick wit and humor which he maintained until the end. In the hospital, he wanted Diana to adjust his bed. He said, "Raise me up like Lazarus." Recently, he told his bride of almost 48 years that they have had a good run. The two of them shared a special devoted marriage. In the hospital, he kept looking over at Diana, telling her "I love you."

When asked about his likes, Diana said that he liked watching nature shows and the History Channel. He loved cats, eating ice cream late at night, but most of all, he loved his family.

Duane's celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, 301 West Tiffin St., Fostoria. Duane's brother-in-law, Tony Soule, will be officiating along with a reading from Pastor Robin Hindall. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green.
