Dorothy L. (Neal) Kaufman

Dorothy L. (Neal) Kaufman, 89, of Continental, died at 4:11 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Heritage of Findlay.

She was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Dola, to Elmer J. Neal and Ruth May (Fackler) Neal. She married Willes B. Kaufman on May 1, 1953, and he preceded her in death Oct. 28, 2023.

Dorothy is survived by four children, Mike (Sandy) Kaufman of Defiance, Pam (David) Floyd of Cross Hill, South Carolina, Jill Brecht of Ottawa, and Bettyjo (Bob) Zachrich of Marysville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Charlie Neal of Findlay.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Ruby Hartman, Mary Kindle, Ruth Coleman, Clara Neal, and Elmer James Neal.

Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed visiting with all of her grandchildren. She created numerous memory photo albums over the years of family and friends. Her hobbies included flower gardening, crocheting, and word puzzles. She was an avid reader and wrote poetry. Dorothy was a member of Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church in Cross Hill, South Carolina, and former member of Ottawa Missionary Church.

Dorothy's funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Ottawa Missionary Church with the Rev. Marshall Metzger officiating. Private burial will take place at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Friday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ottawa Missionary Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
