Dorla Farthing

Dorla M. Farthing, 85, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and formerly of Findlay, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Center, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She was born June 29, 1937, in McComb, the daughter of John H. and Leone (Burman) Linhart.

Dorla was employed at Waterfield Mortgage in Ft. Wayne in mortgage processing. She was a Findlay High School graduate where she was a baton twirler in the marching band where she marched in Washington D.C. Cherry Festival. Dorla enjoyed working her gardens and took pride in her home and gardens, was an avid reader of mystery novels, enjoyed feeding her birds, and liked music. She was famous for her homemade pies, especially cherry, and potato salad at family gatherings. Dorla was also a NRA competition pistol shooter and life member of NRA.

Dorla is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Gregory) Brown of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; first husband, Lynn Farthing of Ft. Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, John C. Linhart.

The family would like to give special thanks to Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Center and Heart to Heart Hospice staff of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Dorla's funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Amy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be expressed at www.coldrencrates.com.

Dorla and my mother Lois
(Stewart)Moneer Lane were best friends since high school. I can remember the two of them laughing and giggling together over the years. I have a picture Mom,Dorla and Carol Zellers in their Trojan high school band uniforms,all friends forever. They are all together once again.
