Donald L. "Donnie" Wentling
Donald L. "Donnie" Wentling, 83, of Carey, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
Don was born May 24, 1941, in Carey to the late Thelby and Corinne (Wenzinger) Wentling. He married the love of his life V. Sue Blair on April 28, 1962 and she survives in Carey. Also surviving are his children, Doug (Shelly Draper) Wentling, Donovan Wentling, Todd (Dawn) Wentling, Andy (Tricia) Wentling and Tricia (Mitchell) Nash; grandchildren, Morgan (Chad) Goergens, Allison (Jake) Dower, Laine (Lydia) Wentling, Grant (Kaela) Wentling, Jared Wentling, Amber Nash, Brayden Wentling, Hayden Nash and Macy Wentling; great-grandchildren; Zander Goergens, Josie Wentling, Mallory Wentling and Liam Wentling and siblings, Eddie (Sue) Wentling, Virginia Patrick and Ralph (Lu) Wentling.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Wentling and Jane Higgins.
Don was a 1959 graduate of Carey High School. Upon graduation, Don went to work at Porcelain Products in Carey and then Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, retiring after 30 years of service. Don loved everything Carey. Don drove bus for Carey schools and was a fixture at Carey athletic games, proudly supporting his children and grandchildren at their events. For each game, Don would be seen pulling in with his motorhome and setting up a tailgate for family and friends to come by. Don was a member of Our Lady Consolation Parish. Don and Sue enjoyed traveling, especially to Orange Beach, Alabama. Don had a great sense of humor. He was known for showing off his chain and ring to everyone. Don had a heart of gold. He would help anyone in a time of need and would give his shirt off his back to those who needed help. Don also loved being outdoors. He enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate, taking his grandchildren tubing in the pond. Don was a good listener, always had a smile on his face and loved his family dearly.
Visitation for Don will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. Don's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial contribu-tions may be made in Don's honor to Carey Athletic Boosters for the Girls Track program.
