Donald Ray Tyson

Donald Ray "Don" Tyson, 76, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 26, 1948, in Fostoria, to Melvin F. and E. Drue (Carter) Tyson. Don married Barbara J. Feather on Nov. 22, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barb; sons, Bart (Holly) Tyson of Gibsonburg, Ryan (Georgette) Tyson of Cygnet, and Randy Tyson of Findlay; daughter, Brandy (J) Glasscock of Texas; sisters, Barb Berghoff of Indiana and Cindy (Rick) Ely of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Sharon Tyson of Findlay; grandchildren, Sierra, Madaline, Paige, Allison, Mathew, Jared, Brady, Austin, and Savannah; an great-grandchildren, Rowyn and Dahlia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mel and Drue; brother, Gary Tyson; and brother-in-law, Steve Berghoff.

Don was a 1966 graduate of Elmwood High School. He served his country proudly in U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star with Valor Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. After serving in the Army, he went to work at Autolite Spark Plug Factory in Fostoria, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a member of Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner and member of AMVETS. He will always be remembered as an avid outdoorsman.

Visitation for friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, until the time of Don's celebration of life at 11 a.m., all at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne. Pastor Ron Merritt will officiate. Following the celebration of life, military honors will be performed by Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 and AMVETS. Burial will be at Mennonite Cemetery near Wayne. Immediately following, a luncheon will take place at Albert Bowe American Legion in Bradner.

Memorial donations may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars.

So sorry to hear about the loss. The amount of memories, and great times, I had in that house with their family are too many to count. There´s no doubt that Don was loved. I wish his entire family love and know that they will always treasure all the happy times they had with him.
