Donald Martin Obituary
Donald "Don" R. Martin, 93, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Meadows of Ottawa.
Don was born July 18, 1932, in Belmore, to Harold and Alice (LaRue) Martin, who preceded him in death. On March 15, 1952, he married Ilo R. (Vanscoder) Martin, who preceded him in death May 7, 2023.
Don was a 1950 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, a member of Pandora United Methodist Church, and a proud Korean War Veteran. He worked for many years at Skeet's Body Shop in Pandora before retiring. After he retired, he worked for 12 years at Stoops Freightliner, working as a parts deliveryman. Don also spent several years volunteering at V.O.S.H. He was a member of American Legion and previously served on Pandora Village Council. He enjoyed traveling with Ilo, especially their trip to Alaska. He also enjoyed woodworking, horses, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two children, Thomas "Tom" (Cheryl) Martin of Bluffton, and Leeann (John) Green of Pandora; a son-in-law, Mark Watkins of Pandora; four grandchildren, Sara (Jon) Perkins, Jason (Lauren) Martin, Bradley Watkins, Nicole (Noel) Canlas; four great-grandchildren, Landon and Grayson Perkins, Lena Martin, and Henry Canlas; and three sisters, Brenda (David) Nelson, Shirley Kananen, and Sandra Kloo.
In addition to his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Watkins and four siblings, Marilyn Bender, James Martin, Patrick Martin, and Gary Martin.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2026, at Pandora United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ruth Carter-Crist officiating the service. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2026, at Pandora United Methodist Church.
Memorial contribu-tions may be made to Pandora United Methodist Church or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
Arrangements are entrusted to Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton.
