Don Treier Obituary
Don Eugene Treier passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 77, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born May 26, 1947, to Kenneth and Elda Wasson Treier in Findlay. He married Peggy Reynolds June 12, 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, William and Johnny.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Matthew (Stephanie) of King George, Virginia, Philip (Natalie) of Novi, Michigan; his adored grandchildren, Benjamin and Olivia; and his brother, Dean (Becky) Treier.
He was a graduate of Elmwood High School and The Ohio State University College of Agriculture where he was a member of Towers Agricultural Honorary. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was an active member in the church choir.
Don was the president of Treier Family Farms Inc. and Pelton Popcorn Farms. He loved farming and was dedicated to providing for his family. One of his favorite pastimes was using his chainsaw to cut wood and maintain his properties with his friend Jeff Heiman. In his later years, he enjoyed racing his car in autocross events with his cousin Dick Wasson. For almost 50 years, he looked forward to the fun and fellowship of his Farm Bureau Council group. Most of all "Grandpa Don" cherished his time spent with his family and beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Benjamin, especially fishing with Olivia and teaching Benji to drive the tractor.
His family would like to give a special thanks to his brother, Dean, and his wife, Becky, for their generous help and support during his illness.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Barndt Funeral Home, where a celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, with Pastor Arnold Betz officiating. The burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Wayne, with a bereavement luncheon immediately following at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomdale.
Memorial contributions can be made in Don's memory to Bloomdale Fire Department or Bridge Home Health and Hospice in Findlay.
