Don E. Riker

Don E. Riker, 93, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born Nov. 17, 1929, to A.O. and Helen Marie (Wilcox) Riker.

Don married the love of his life, Norma (Eddington), on June 2, 1953, and she survives. He honorably served his country in U.S. Army from 1951-1953, seeing active duty in the Korean War. He also served in Army Reserves from 1953-1957. Don retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 1992.

Don was an avid woodworker, building furniture, cabinets, and anything you can think of for his family and friends. He and Norma loved to travel, having traveled to all 50 states, and loved their trips to Hawaii and Alaska. The family enjoyed camping, especially at Pokagon State Park in Indiana and around Lake Erie. Don and Norma spent many nights dancing at Findlay Moose and AmVets, where they were members. He was also a member of Disabled American Veterans and Korean War Club. Don enjoyed bowling, boating, fishing and classic cars, having owned a 1966 Mustang and 1980 Corvette.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Dana (Cathy) Riker; daughter, Belinda Griggs; eight grandchildren, Shane (Denae) Griggs, Shawn (Jennifer) Griggs, Dane Riker, Danielle (Daric) Holleger, Derek Riker, Deanna Riker, Wyatt Brooks and Garrett Brooks; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bob, Jay, and Joe Riker.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023, and 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, until the time of Don's funeral at 11 a.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, where full military rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
