Dawn M. Davidson-Zumberger
Dawn M. Davidson-Zumberger, 53, of Maplewood, passed away peacefully on the beautiful, sunny morning of Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 1, 1970 to Donna (Redick) Ylhainen and Donald Davidson in Bluffton. She graduated from Cory-Rawson High School with the class of 1989. On March 24, 1994 she married Rick Zumberger.
Dawn was a warrior until the very end. She refused to let cancer steal her joyful spirit even through a strenuous year of treatments and surgeries. Her medical team was amazed at her positive attitude and never ending smile. Dawn continued to believe she was going to beat cancer and never gave up hope. Even in her final days, she was making plans. She was determined to go to the zoo with her two year old nephew and great niece, go back to nursing school when she was in remission and planned on so many more beach days.
In addition to her husband, Rick Zumberger; she is also survived by her mother, Donna (Tom) Ylhainen of Jenera; father, Donald (Lorrie) Davidson of Findlay; sisters, Nikki Duncan (AJ Vandongen) of Rawson, Amanda (Justin) Baker of Tiffin and Deidra Kaufman of Rawson; a brother, Chad (Kim) Ylhainen of Bluffton; sisters-in-law, Nancy Nolan and Sandy Thompson; brother-in-law, Ron (Susan) Zumberger; nieces, Josie (Jacob) Schoonover, Franki Duncan, Elizabeth Ylhainen and Jenison Davidson; nephews, Gabe Duncan, Griffin Duncan, Jacob Ylhainen, Joshua Ylhainen, Mark (Ashley) Thompson and Eric (Sara) Thompson. Dawn especially loved spending time with her great niece, Noa and nephew Julian. Also surviving is her beloved dog and best companion, Alli.
Dawn is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Trola (Schaller) Redick of Jenera; and a paternal grandfather, Ralph Ylhainen.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Bridge Hospice Care and to her oncologist, Dr. Kulkarni, who believed in Dawn and her valiant fight.
Dawn preferred a small circle of special people in her life, each of whom she loved deeply. Because of that, no funeral or visitation arrangements will be made. Instead, her family will have a private celebration of life in her mother's backyard surrounded by flowers and butterflies.
If you feel led to make a donation in Dawn's honor, please do so to Bridge Hospice in Findlay.
CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, have been entrust with Dawn's care.
