David "Dean" Thomas

David "Dean" Thomas, 85 of Findlay passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Rawson June 23, 1939, to the late Richard C. and Helen (Sampson) Thomas. Dean attended Cory-Rawson High School. He married Catherine (Lesage) September 7, 1991, and she survives along with his three sons, Tony (Mary) Thomas of Columbus, Timothy (Sue) Thomas and David Bruce Thomas, both of Findlay. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda (Paul) Cook, Aaron (Ashleigh) Thomas, Mitchell Thomas, Jason Thomas, and Carson Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Elijah, James, and Sadie.

Dean was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Krugh.

Dean worked at Garner Trucking for 37 years. Following retirement, he worked for Marion Township where he mowed the roads and plowed snow for several years. A truck driver at heart, Dean also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, especially with his sons. One very fond memory was when he rode across the country with them. He also took trips to New Hampshire and several to the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area. Dean enjoyed his friends in the Goldwing Road Riders Association. Every motorcycle trip always included a break for ice-cream. Every fall, Dean would take his father's restored tractor to the antique tractor show at the fairgrounds where he enjoyed exchanging stories with local friends. He called himself "a gentleman farmer" and enjoyed planting his fields every spring with the help of his sons. Dean would often give tractor rides to his grandchildren. He was known for his friendly, easy-going nature. He laughed often and loved his family.

A funeral service will begin at 1p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. Burial will follow at Tawa Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Dean to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Hancock County Humane Society, or a charity of the donor's choice.
